Team Of Rivals Audio Book Is A Great Read About Lincoln

The ‘Team of Rivals’ audio book, written by Doris Kearns Goodwin (narrated by Richard Thomas) is a great story about Abraham Lincoln - you will learn a lot about the great man himself by listening to this book. Also, you will have a greater understanding about the characters surrounding Lincoln. His skills as a master statesman are explored and there are many political battles to witness, especially within the White House. Lincoln is portrayed as a president who had little difficulty in mastering others.

Assessing The Skills Of A Great Personality

After you have read the Team of Rivals audio book, you should have found a totally original way of assessing the skills of Lincoln as a leader and the main focus is on the period in the 1850s when the country was driven asunder by slavery. There will be few people that will not help but revel in this great work, especially as the Team of Rivals audio book is the work of the Pulitzer Prize winner who has also penned ‘No Ordinary Time.’

The Team of Rivals audio book is a tale of when during the year 1860, Abraham Lincoln was nominated by the Republican Party for its choice of president which came as a big surprise to the other candidates including William Henry Seward, Salmon P. Chase and Edward Bates. Each of these characters in their own right were more famous personalities and had better political connections as well!

The greatness of Abraham Lincoln that one learns from the Team of Rivals audio book is that he got these three stalwarts to not only join his cabinet after he became president, but also got them to work well with him and with each other. The narration by Richard Thomas brings out the writings of Doris Kearns Goodwin in this excellent book and one can only marvel at the detailed way that these characters are brought to life showing different aspects of life as a president for Abraham Lincoln.

In short, Doris Kearns Goodwin and Richard Thomas give us a detailed picture of Lincoln as a wonderful visionary who always put the greater good ahead of expediency. Why not listen to the ‘Team of Rivals’ audio book and learn some more about this great historical figure. Surprisingly, he was a man prone to telling stories and jokes (not the usual melancholic figure sometimes perceived by the public).
